For centuries, humans have explored mountains and high-altitude regions, yet the impact of thin air on the human body was not fully understood until recent times. As altitude increases, the air pressure drops, leading to lower oxygen levels. This can cause difficulty in breathing, chest compression, and altitude sickness.

In the late 19th century, the effects of vasoconstriction at high altitudes were studied, resulting in our current understanding that our chest compresses as an outcome.
We now understand that oxygen decreases with increasing altitude. Conversely, the Qur’an portrayed a clear understanding of these studies before any scientific advances, which was not common knowledge at the time. Allah (SWT) says:
Notice that this verse references the "sky," not just a high altitude in general, which implies that it knew the effects of such drastic heights prior to any scientists studying this. This verse also serves as a reminder of the fate of those who are led astray: as if their oxygen supply is limited.
