Modern geology confirms that mountains have deep roots, often extending far below the Earth's surface. This discovery aligns with the way mountains are formed\u2014when tectonic plates collide, their impact forces parts of the crust downward, creating deep foundations that anchor the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mountains play a crucial role in maintaining Earth's stability. They help regulate the movements of tectonic plates, reduce the impact of erosion, and balance the planet's crust against gravitational forces.
